See AllTower of Hercules The Tower of Hercules is the oldest extant lighthouse known. It has an ancient Roman origin on a peninsula about 2.4 km from the centre of A Coruña, Galicia, in north-western Spain. Until the 20th century, it was known as the Farum Brigantium. The Latin word farum is derived from the Greek Φάρος, Pharos, for the Lighthouse of Alexandria. The structure stands 55 metres tall and overlooks the North Atlantic coast of Spain. It was built in the 1st century and renovated in 1791. There is a sculpture garden featuring works by Pablo Serrano and Francisco Leiro. The Tower of Hercules is a National Monument of Spain, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 27 June 2009. En su extremo occidental está el mejor lugar de baño y sol sobre todo si hay niños ya que una pequeña ría permite que se bañen incluso si el mar tiene bandera roja.Al lado, subiendo una cuesta corta, hay un kiosko en el que beber o comer, tiene una gran terraza cubierta con bancos de madera en los que leer a la sombra viendo el mar es todo un placer.Faro de finisterre Es el faro más occidental y emblemáticos de Europa, considerado tradicionalmente como el cabo del fin del mundo, "Finis Terrae".Este punto avanza sobre el mar unos 5 kms en dirección sur, en paralelo al granítico Monte Pindo formando la protegida y hermosa ría de Corcubión.Durante miles de años se pensó que cada noche el sol se apagaba en sus aguas, y más allá de él sólo existía una región de tinieblas y monstruos.Cascada del ezaro El desnivel del último tramo del río Jallas es de 155 metros, precipitándose el agua 40 metros de altura monte abajo hasta golpear las paredes del cañón situado al pie del monte Pindo (de 630 m de altitud). Existen referencias documentadas que datan del año 1724 que mencionan la cascada, describiéndola como una enorme humareda que se podía divisar desde varios kilómetros mar adentro. Esta humareda deja una pared bastante erosionada de más o menos 30 metros de altura.1Caión Si el excursionista quiere salir de A Coruña rumbo al Oeste, irá a dar a Caión, donde comienza la dura, brava, peligrosa y conocida "Costa da Morte".Durante siglos, Caión fue un destacado puerto ballenero. Aún hoy da la impresión de que sus casas pretenden introducirse en el mar.Los habitantes de Caión (lugar que presume de tener las cebollas de mejor calidad de toda Galicia), desafiaron al mar desde su montículo batido por los vientos día y noche. No solo eso, sino que, sin importarles el peligro, salían a cazar ballenas primero y a pescar enormes cantidades de sardina despues.verdes La parroquia de Verdes nos recibe con sus casas de piedra y la pequeña iglesia de San Adrián abrazada por una naturaleza antigua y frondosa, haciendo honor a su nombre. Nuestro objetivo: descubrir los senderos del río Anllóns y sus quince molinos viejos. Si te dispones a planear una ruta por Galicia en coche no dejes de visitar el Refugio de Verdes.illa de arousa En el único municipio insular de Galicia, acunado por la ría pontevedresa de Arousa, vive un pueblo marinero arraigado férreamente a sus costumbres. De los 36 kilómetros de costa de A Illa de Arousa, 11 están alfombrados con playas carentes de oleaje que las perturben, protagonistas del espacio natural de Carreirón. Rodeado de bateas, este lugar es, como no podía ser menos en las Rías Baixas, un paraíso marisqueiro, además de atraer con sus cons (rocas graníticas) de antojadizas formas. Este es un resumen de todo lo que hay que saber de esta isla playeraisla da toja a Isla de La Toja, La Toja Grande, de Loujo o de Los Baños de Loujo1 (en gallego y oficialmente Illa da Toxa,2 Illa da Toxa Grande3 o Illa de Louxo[cita requerida]) es una isla española perteneciente a la provincia de Pontevedra, en Galicia, y situada al este de la villa de El Grove, de la que está unida por un puente decimonónico. Posee un núcleo de población llamada Isla de La Toja, perteneciente a la parroquia de San Martín, que contaba con 42 habitantes empadronados en 2018.4 Tiene una superficie de 110 hectáreas.
